Many people, including myself, find the prospect of negotiating a deal at a car dealership a bit daunting. There is no doubt that there are many great salesmen (and women) out there that know how to make the most of the situation and most people just go along with what they say and accept what deal they are offered. There are also many so called ’scams’ that the dis-honest salespeople will use to make their commission cheque a bit fatter.

If you had the knowledge of these tactics and how you can avoid the ‘hard sell’ then I think you will agree that you have a better chance of not being ripped off. We have an e-book that is aptly named ‘How to buy a car without getting ripped off’ that is full of insider information about the tactics that salespeople employ and how to recognise when they are trying to squeeze more dollars out of you and how to deal with the situation effectively.

Put yourself on an equal footing when dealing with car salespeople by being educated on their tactics and drive away knowing you got the best possible deal and saved yourself a packet!

Next to the family home, your vehicle is the most expensive purchase you will make in your life. Then there is the on-going costs such as maintenance, registration, insurance and fuel which make the humble motor car a fair drain on the old bank account.

Paying top dollar for a car at a dealership also leaves you with depreciation costs, which can be thousands of dollars a year. Unfortunately the motor car is a poor investment but we can’t do without them can we? Getting to work by horse and carriage will probably see you late for work each day and what to do with the horse while your working! I’d hate to see the size of the poopa-scoopa you’d need!

So basically the money we spend on our motor cars is seen as a necessary expenditure and it would make sense to get the best deal possible when purchasing your vehicle. Where do you look for auto bargains? There are several auction sites on the net which auction off cars that have been repossessed by banks or the tax man or are siezed as part of the proceeds of crime laws. These vehicles cost money to be kept in storage and are offered for sale at wholesale prices to get them out the door as quick as possible.

Car dealers have known about these auctions for years and that car that you bought off the lot may have been sold at auction for thousands less than the price the dealer wanted. Through the websites the public is now becoming more aware of these auctions and are paying much less for their vehicles than they otherwise would from a dealer.

There are a couple of down sides to buying at auction and these need to be considered before buying. There is little chance of a refund once you have bid on and bought a vehicle, so you need to be sure that the vehicle is right for you. The vehicles are sold on a ‘as is, where is’ basis and no warrantee is offered so it pays to have a qualified person look over the car before buying.

Taking everything into account if you could pay thousands of dollars less for your vehicle you are in front already. Yes, there is a certain amount of risk in buying at auction but if you are careful in your selection and have a mechanic look over any potential buys, the money saved makes it all worthwhile. We have reviews of several Auto Auction Sites, catering to the American market at the moment and we are looking for suitable sites from other countries all the time. Good luck in finding the right vehicle at the right price!
